Tom Trandt, founder of Môi Điên, is a graduate of Parsons. Since its inception the brand has taken inspiration from Vietnamese history and contemporary culture, seeking to find viable solutions to establishing ethical and sustainable fashion practices within a Vietnamese context. Môi Điên means ‘outspoken’ and it is founded on the principle that clothes can act as a voice of the wearer. The collection and installation for International Fashion Showcase draws on the use of clothing as a means to communicate silent messages of hope, using UV light to reveal embroidered messages.
