SIREN's parties, zine and monthly NTS Radio show are musical and political platforms for women and non-binary people - spaces where current trends within electronic music are critiqued and new alternatives created. Starting out as a regular night in the Rye Wax basement in Peckham, the collective quickly became known for their passion for playing with the format of the conventional rave, often taking their projects to unusual venues or fostering new collaborations. It is not unfamiliar to see rising star headliners supported by new DJs who are playing out for the first time.

Their passion for spreading political ideas extends beyond the dancefloor to include the collective’s self published zine and a monthly NTS show featuring a different invited guest DJ or producer for each episode. They launched a mix series in 2017, alongside an Introduction to Radio workshop in association with NTS Radio, which invites a female or non-binary NTS host to run each session. Many of the workshop guests have already gone on to play on radio, DJ out in clubs, and joined forces for the inception of their ‘Interwave’ club night.

SIREN events include ‘Synchronise’, which brought together some of London’s most inclusive and forward thinking collectives including Resis’Dance, Goldsnapp, gal-dem, The Batty Mama and UNITI for one night of music; ‘Recursion’, a collaborative day and night event with Bristol’s DJ Workshop Intervention with a focus on technology; and an intimate live gig in a water tank, as well as a collaboration with Chapter 10.

As Associate Artists, SIREN explored how they might break down boundaries between performers and audiences through a series of events focused on shared knowledge and collaboration.
